Frequently Asked Questions
Who are The Vegetable Co.?
We are a team of young entrepreneurs looking to change the way people understand food. Through the use of Agri-tech, we want to grow the healthiest, most delicious and most sustainable vegetables.
Why did we embark on this journey?
We are young idealists who didn’t like the way vegetables are grown up to this point. After much research and consideration, we discovered Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) which aligned most closely to our ideals.
What is Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA)?
Controlled Environment Agriculture is an Agri-tech innovation. It is a machine farm operating in a clean-room environment, utilises technology to optimise the various factors crucial to the growth of vegetables.
Why CEA?
CEA allows us to produce the best vegetables consistently without the use of pesticides. The technology is also highly sustainable as it uses 90% less water than conventional means and can use unused urban spaces. By controlling the variables in a quarantined environment, our vegetables can grow to its highest potential while being clean enough to eat right out of harvest.
What differentiates us from a normal farm?
Given that CEA farms are mobile, we aim to be as close to the consumer as possible, making us a hyper-local producer of vegetables. Our vegetables can be the freshest as can be, and it also helps the environment as we are not polluting through a long supply chain. And of course, we grow the best vegetables consistently without using pesticides!
What differentiates us from other urban farms?
We are a tech-centric company, and as such, we boast the best farming technology within Malaysia. This sets us apart from our competitors as we can convincingly justify the quality of our produce, as well as the many claims we make on the sustainability of our process.
Are our vegetables organic?
Our vegetables are not considered organic as it is not grown in the soil. But rest assured, given the meticulous care and ethical standards within our operations, our vegetables can be considered far better than organic and regular vegetables.
What gives you the confidence to consider your vegetables the best within the business?
We have absolute confidence in the technological precision that goes into our farming practices, along with the meticulous care given by our farmers. The combination of technology and love, along with our dedication to sanitation, gives us the confidence to tout our motto, of “growing the finest vegetables in the world”.
Where do you source your produce?
100% of our vegetables are grown locally within our CEA farm.
